NBA wrap: Kyle Korver leads Cavs’ leftovers to win; Dwyane Wade saves day in return to Miami
Cleveland was in a weird spot Friday. The Cavaliers were excited to have four newly acquired players on the roster, but they couldn’t use any of them, so they had to make the best with what they had.
Miam’s Goran Dragic was selected as an All-Star but Friday’s performance wasn’t very good. He went 1 for 11 from the floor with six points and three assists in 27 minutes of playing time in the Heat’s win over the Bucks.
Ball is currently averaging 10.2 points per game on 35.6 percent shooting from the field and 30.3 percent shooting from the perimeter. Of the 161 players who are averaging at least 10.0 points per game this season, nobody has converted their overall shot attempts at a lower rate than Ball. He is near the bottom of that list in 3-point percentage as well, but most of the players below him such as Julius Randle, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jusuf Nurkic spend little to no time on the perimeter.
All of this is to say that Ball has struggled to score with any sort of consistency this season, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone who followed him at UCLA. (Two of the biggest concerns about Ball’s game heading into the 2017 NBA Draft centered around his jump shot and his ability to create for himself in the half court.)
He pointed out that James has addressed these kinds of opinions from others before.
That won’t be the only reunion on Team LeBron. James will play alongside former Cavs guard Kyrie Irving for the first time since he was traded to Boston last offseason. The two have been amicable in each of the two Cavs-Celtics games this season, but new details surrounding their break up seem to emerge weekly.
Team Stephen has some interesting selections as well. Curry’s first choice is thought to have been Giannis Antetokounmpo. Smart decision, as he avoids a repeat of last year, at least at the hands of Giannis.
Curry also wisely selected Warriors teammates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. The trio will go against Kevin Durant for the first time since beating him in the 2016 Western Conference Finals as a member of the Thunder.
